In Nepal, UNICEF's child-friendly spaces help children cope after the earthquake

When natural disasters strike, children go through tremendous trauma and stress. UNICEF, as part of its response, set up child-friendly spaces at the informal camp site in Tundikhel, a large open ground in Kathmandu. These spaces provide recreational and educational toys as well as a UNICEF counselor to talk with children traumatized by the earthquake. The space provided a safe refuge for affected children, much to the relief of their parents who can now spend more time looking for help to rebuild their lives. Get to know some of them.
