“My birthday wish is to be able to finish my studies,” says Ronalyn on her 14th birthday. It may sounds like a simple wish but it’s a goal many children in the Philippines thought was impossible when the typhoon caused huge damage to their schools. But UNICEF acted quickly, providing school supplies, learning materials and temporary classrooms to benefit more than 600,000 children affected. Read more »

[HAIYAN Survivors] Chyrine: A Reluctant Hero

Chyrine, an elementary school teacher, lost her husband to the typhoon, but she decided to return to her school and students just days after. "They needed to see me - their teacher - as an example. I had to set aside my own problems so I could be strong for them.” UNICEF provided her school with books and instructional materials, as well as tents and furniture to be used as temporary classrooms.
