Global Classroom - Partner

For UNICEF Canada, collaborations and partnerships are essential to the work we do in our Global Classroom program. These partnerships support our vision and mission to raise awareness of the importance of children’s rights in Canadian education settings. They help us advocate for policy change, and support the practical implementation of children’s rights pedagogy in Canadian schools. Our partnerships are essential to the success of our work.

  • Bring Your MP To School Day

    National Child Day was officially declared with the Child Day Act in 1993 to honour the UN Declaration on the Rights of the Child and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. “Bring your MP to School Day” is a UNICEF Canada initiative to commemorate National Child Day 2014 and ensure that children’s voices, concerns and interests find expression in and enjoy meaningful attention from Parliamentarians.

  • Rights Respecting Schools

    This initiative involves collaboration with school boards and schools. This whole school approach provides opportunities for children to voice opinions about their school, to participate in school and classroom decisions, to address the prevention of and response to bullying in our schools and to contribute to resolving problems.

  • Faculty of Education Partnerships

    UNICEF Canada partnered with Faculties of Education on the development of new courses, training models and resources to educate teacher candidates, faculty and practicing teachers on rights respecting education and global citizenship.

    GreenLearning Canada and UNICEF Canada partnered to create a professional learning workshop for climate change educators called Inspiring Youth-Led Action on Climate Change. Check out their new go-to hub for the best in climate change education.

  • Ontario Justice Education Network

    A partnership between UNICEF Canada and the Ontario Justice Education Network resulted in a bilingual curriculum connected guide to support Grade 10 Civics and Grade 12 Law. Outreach includes workshop delivery at the annual OJEN conference, to provincial specialist association conferences, and a resource posting on the OJEN Web site.

  • Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation

    The Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation and UNICEF Canada partnered together to co-host a series of Social Justice Conferences for Ontario teachers, reaching over 2000 teachers across Ontario.

    The Public Health Agency of Canada and UNICEF Canada collaborated to develop an activity guide to explore the Convention on the Rights of the Child on National Child Day in Canada.

  • PREVNet

    A partnership between PREVNet (Promoting Relationships and Eliminating Violence), My Health Magazine, UNICEF Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) produced an online forum to educate children and youth on their rights. UNICEF Canada is one of 10 PREVNet partners forming the Knowledge Management Initiative funded by the Government of Canada.

    UNICEF Canada engaged the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto (OISE/UT) to undertake a major, cross-country study of the state of global education in Canada to help inform UNICEF Canada’s work with teachers and administrators.
