A proud supporter since 2010, Teck Resources Limited is a committed member of the International Zinc Association (IZA), a key UNICEF partnership driving the Zinc Saves Kids global fundraising initiative. Zinc Saves Kids is expected to raise millions over the next several years to support critical vitamin and micronutrient programs for children in Nepal and Peru. Beyond the Zinc Save Kids initiative, Teck has also shown its commitment to children by supporting earthquake survivors in Haiti in January 2010. Rallying staff to raise funds for children, Teck also matched donations made by employees.
Proud supporter since 1988, IKEA has raised over $35 million worldwide through the sales of soft toys at IKEA stores since the program began in 2003. The Soft Toy campaign is driven by IKEA Foundation, responsible for IKEA’s investment in communities and commitment to improving children’s rights and opportunities. Pier 1 Imports has been a proud supporter of UNICEF Canada since the early 1990’s. Through the selling of UNICEF greeting cards, Pier 1 Imports donates 100% of the proceeds back to UNICEF to support their various initiatives. Providing beautiful home décor and furnishing to Canadians; Pier 1 Imports also holds an annual greeting card contest for children to raise awareness of UNICEF’s mission. A generous supporter since 2005, Tim Hortons has generously supported UNICEF’s work in Emergencies. Through the support of Tim Horton’s store owners, customers and the corporate head office, UNICEF has been able to provide safe water to 1.2 million people during the Haiti Earthquake. In addition, 95,000 children are benefitting from recreational activities and psychosocial support and more than 720,000 children are benefitting from a nationwide UNICEF-supported education campaign to name a few examples.
One of UNICEF’s global partners since 2004, H&M has generously supported UNICEF’s education and HIV/AIDs projects for several years. In 2009, H&M Canada developed a tote bag that was sold in Canadian stores with a percentage of the sale donated to UNICEF. In 2010, H&M launched an international campaign featuring different tote bags every few months with proceeds from the bags were donated to UNICEF. With H&M’s support, UNICEF is helping girls in Kenya increase their opportunities to pursue higher education and become role models for their siblings and other girls in their communities. Montblanc has supported UNICEF’s education programs for children through its “Sign Up for the Right to Write” and the “Power to Write” global fundraising initiatives launched in 2004 and 2007 respectively, which have collectively raised over $1 million to benefit UNICEF. In 2009, Montblanc renewed its commitment towards the common goal of working for children’s right to literacy and education in launching the 2009/2010 “Signature for Good” initiative to benefit UNICEF, which raised over $4 million between June 1, 2009, and May 31, 2010.
Over the course of its relationship with UNICEF since 2005, Gucci has committed more than US $12 million, including support for UNICEF’s life-saving treatment, care and prevention programs for orphans and vulnerable children in sub-Saharan Africa, where nearly 1 million children have been orphaned by the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Over time, the partnership has evolved to focus on education through UNICEF’s ‘Schools for Africa’ initiative, which aims to increase access to quality basic education for millions of children in Africa, with a special emphasis on helping the most disadvantaged – girls, orphans and children living in extreme poverty. In further support to UNICEF and in honor of its Children’s Collection, Gucci has pledged a US $1 million to UNICEF’s ‘Schools for Africa’ initiative with a specific focus on Mozambique and Malawi. Asking customers if they wish to add a donation to their bill has raisen over $65,000 in the past two years!
Newalta has been generously sponsoring UNICEF’s events across the country, beginning with the “Chefs Calgary” event in 2005 and then expanding its support to include sponsorship of “Chefs Halifax” and “Unite with Art” in Vancouver starting in 2011. Newalta’s support of these events has allowed UNICEF to meet the needs of vulnerable children around the world through initiatives such as providing micronutrient supplements to children in Guatemala to combat nutrition deficiencies, supporting response to HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment in Namibia, and ensuring a safe drinking water source for 25 rural communities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Newalta is also a supporter of UNICEF’s work in emergency situations, allowing UNICEF to respond quickly and efficiently to meet the survival needs of vulnerable children.
Webkinz Foundation has been a generous supporter of UNICEF Canada since 2009. UNICEF Canada is pleased to be one of the charities featured in the Caring Valley™ section of the Webkinz World™ site. Webkinz World is a leading children’s online play space. The Caring Valley is designed to help kids learn about caring and about the different charities helping children around the world. Webkinz Foundation’s generous support has enabled UNICEF to provide clean drinking water to more than 630,000 people and 1,600 tents to set up 225 temporary learning centres during the height of the Haiti Earthquake . PricewaterhouseCoopers Canada Foundation has generously supported UNICEF’s work in Emergencies. Through the support of partners, staff and the Foundation, UNICEF has been able to provide safe water to 4.7 million people during the Haiti Earthquake and Pakistan Floods. In addition, almost 11 million children have been vaccinated and 275,000 children are benefitting from recreational activities and psychosocial support.
Loblaw Companies Limited is Canada’s largest food retailer and a leading provider of drugstore, general merchandise and financial products and services. Loblaw has been a proud Emergency supporter of UNICEF since 2010. With Loblaw’s generosity, UNICEF has been able to help the world’s most vulnerable when they need it the most – during an emergency.
KPMG has generously supported UNICEF’s work in Emergencies. Through the support of KPMG people, UNICEF has been able to provide safe water to 1.2 people during the Haiti Earthquake; administering 1.9 million vaccinations while treating over 11,000 children suffering with severe acute malnutrition.
Owlkids, a proud supporter of our National UNICEF Day campaign, is the English youth division of Bayard Presse Canada. Owlkids publishes entertaining, unique, high quality magazines and books that nurture the potential of children and instill in them a love of reading and learning – about themselves and the world around them. Currently running a campaign to provide school supplies to vulnerable children, Owlkids has a fundraising goal of $150,000.
Dorcy Canada, a proud supporter of UNICEF since 2009, Dorcy has been providing flashlight products to consumers for over 55 years. Every Halloween, Dorcy donates a percentage of sales from designated flashlights to UNICEF Canada. Funds raised are used to support UNICEF’s highest priority needs.
BD is a medical technology company that serves healthcare institutions, life science researchers, clinical laboratories, industry and the general public. In Canada, BD sells a broad range of medical supplies, devices, laboratory equipment and diagnostic products. A supporter of UNICEF’s Gingerbread campaign, BD raised enough funds to purchase ten education field tents, providing children with education even in times of emergency.

With their support, UNICEF is working towards building child-friendly schools in Malawi, protecting victimized children in Bolivia and tackling child labor in Bangladesh.

Partnering with UNICEF beginning in 2010, Intrepid Travel has supported UNICEF’s vision and mission, partnering to help mobilize and empower Canadians for the positive transformation of every child’s future. Intrepid Travel has already provided financial and in-kind contributions totaling over $50,000 in support of UNICEF’s multiple campaigns year-round for children.
UNICEF Canada partnered up with UgroupMedia to bring consumers the PNP - Portable North Pole, a free and secure application that lets Canadians create a personalized video message from Santa Claus during the holidays. Unlike traditional letters from Santa, PNP console users simply go online, answer a few brief questions and in less than five minutes, a personalized video greeting is created. Interested in keeping a copy of the personalized video created for keepsake? For a small fee, individuals are able to purchase their customized video where a percentage of the purchase will also be donated to UNICEF!
