UNICEF Canada warmly applauds the Government of Canada’s decision to increase its commitment to support the health of women, adolescents, children and newborns around the world over the next 10 years. This significant announcement, made today at the international Women Deliver 2019 conference, supports the Thrive Agenda – an advocacy initiative spear-headed by a diverse group of organizations, including UNICEF Canada, calling on Canada to take a stronger leadership role in promoting the health and rights of the world's most marginalized people.

One third of children in Venezuela need help accessing basic nutrition, health and education services, according to preliminary UN estimates. UNICEF has been working in Venezuela for almost 30 years. As the country grapples with the impact of a devastating economic and political crisis, we will continue to provide its most vulnerable children, wherever they are, with the humanitarian support they need. Children’s needs must always remain above politics.
