TORONTO STAR: The Canadian in the eye of Haiti's storm

TORONTO, 7 November 2010 - The Toronto Star published an insightful profile on NIGEL FISHER, UNICEF Canada's former President and CEO.  Mr. Fisher is currently serving in Haiti as the Humanitarian Coordinator (in charge of UN relief efforts), UN Resident Coordinator, (in charge of UN agencies) and Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General (in charge of UN Peacekeeping).

In her column, "The Canadian in the eye of Haiti's storm," Catherine Porter calls Mr. Fisher, "Our country's most valuable contribution to Haiti since the earthquake."

The profile highlights Mr. Fisher's extraordinary achievements in Haiti, Rwanda, Iraq and Afghanistan, while capturing his optimism and determination.

"With Nigel, the world is a better place, plain and simple," said Dr. Eric Hoskins, Ontario cabinet minister and co-founder of War Child Canada. "He has single-handedly saved so many thousands, tens of thousands of lives in so many circumstances. There are not a lot of people you can say that about."
