Tickets now on sale for 20th anniversary of Water for Life - Chefs for UNICEF gala
Special performance by Dave Carroll and award-winning cuisine by 15 of Nova Scotia’s premier chefs
HALIFAX, February 27, 2012 – Tickets are now on sale for the 20th Anniversary of Halifax’s premier charity event, the Water for Life - Chefs for UNICEF gala on March 28 at the Halifax World Trade and Convention Centre.
This year’s gala will feature a special performance by award winning singer-songwriter Dave Carroll, an insightful conversation between UNICEF Ambassador Solange Tuyishime and CBC’s Olga Milosevich and an unforgettable dining experience by 15 of Nova Scotia’s premier chefs.
“We are thrilled to be celebrating the 20th Anniversary of this remarkable event,” says Steve Bird, Chair of the Water for Life gala and VP of Finance at BellAliant. “We are grateful for the community’s support and look forward to a wonderful night raising funds to support UNICEF’s work reaching millions of children. “
The goal of this year’s Water for Life gala is to raise $165,000 to support UNICEF’s work improving children’s access to clean and safe drinking water around the world.
Water is essential for life, yet globally more than 125 million children under the age of five don’t have access to safe drinking water which leads to 5,000 children under the age of 5 dying every day. Through the generous support of donors, UNICEF works in more than 100 countries improving water supplies and sanitation facilities while promoting safe hygiene.
Along with Dave Carroll’s performance, Bill Carr will emcee the evening and CBC personality Olga Milosevich will lead an intimate conversation with UNICEF Canada Ambassador Solange Tuyishime. Solange was born and raised in Rwanda and was forced to flee her country at age 11 due to civil war and genocide. Solange will explain how UNICEF’s work touched her life while living as a refugee in the Democratic Republic of Congo, before moving to Fredericton, New Brunswick with her family at the age of 13.
Individual tickets for the Water for Life - Chefs for UNICEF gala are $200 each. Tables of ten are also available. To order tickets, please call 1(800) 819-0889 ext 8204. Learn more at www.unicef.ca
