Two months since outbreak of violence in Myanmar, Rohingya refugee children still at acute risk

World’s second largest oral cholera vaccination campaign kicks off at Rohingya camps in Bangladesh

A massive cholera immunization campaign started today near Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, to protect newly arrived Rohingya and host communities from the life-threatening diarrheal disease. 900 000 doses of the vaccine have been mobilized and are being delivered by more than 200 mobile vaccination teams, making it the second largest oral cholera vaccination campaign ever.

UNICEF appeals for US$76.1 million to assist children in Bangladesh affected by the Rohingya crisis

UNICEF is launching a US$76.1 million appeal for its emergency humanitarian response to the Rohingya refugee crisis in southern Bangladesh. The appeal will cover the immediate needs of newly-arrived Rohingya children, as well as those who arrived before the recent influx, and children from vulnerable host communities -- 720,000 children in all.

UNICEF called today for children to be at the heart of public and private investment in reconstruction efforts following the devastating earthquakes of 7 and 19 September. The children’s agency went on to strongly encourage investment for earthquake-affected children in the areas of protection, physical and emotional well-being, education and shelter for families.
