Helping children overcome severe malnutrition

In Bangladesh, eight-month-old Mahdi had a difficult start in life. His mother, Ismat, was undernourished even before she became pregnant. When Mahdi was born, Ismat couldn’t provide enough breast milk.

Did You Know?

Globally, nearly 45 million children are affected by wasting, which is the most life-threatening form of malnutrition.

The last mile to end polio

Eradicating a contagious disease like polio requires 100% vaccination coverage. In Kenya, where immunization is almost universal, the same 1% are missed again and again: children who are part of the travelling community that moves from place to place, searching for pasture for their livestock.

Thank You

Your continued generosity helps protect children from deadly, preventable diseases.

AN IDENTITY FOR EVERY CHILD

A birth certificate is a powerful document. It is the first legal recognition of a child’s existence. It establishes their identity, nationality and legal status, and gives them access to essential social services. Without a birth certificate, children are invisible to their governments.

Your Impact

Your gift helps children access their legal right to identity and protection.

Helping mothers and babies thrive

Proper nourishment during the first 1,000 days of life is critical to a child’s development. But millions of infants do not receive the nutrition they need to survive and thrive.

Your donations help UNICEF support new mothers like Kajalben in India. Her daughter Radhika was born weighing just a little over three pounds, which was dangerously low.

Your Impact

Your support can help boost the health of children from conception until their second birthday, giving them the best chance to grow up strong and healthy.

Children’s lives are at risk from malnutrition, preventable diseases, conflict and poverty. Your support means UNICEF can keep providing life-saving essentials like vaccines, therapeutic food, healthcare and more.
