Children face a deadly challenge: winter

In the heart of Aleppo, amid the fiercest fighting of the Syrian war, 10-year-old Ahmad experienced the ultimate loss — the death of his parents.

Suddenly orphaned, he and his four siblings had little chance of survival. A kind neighbour took them in, but when fighting intensified, the children joined the rush of people fleeing the city.

They survived the journey, but Ahmad and his siblings quickly faced a new, deadly challenge: a long and brutal winter. As temperatures plummeted below freezing, Ahmad could barely keep warm in his threadbare clothes. He worried about his siblings and dedicated himself to collecting firewood to help keep them warm.

Sadly, his story is not unique. Thousands of children like Ahmad urgently need your help. They face a harsh, cruel winter ahead and require immediate assistance to protect themselves from the elements.

Help deliver critical care to children waiting in the cold

With your donation, you can help:

• protect and keep children in crisis warm by delivering emergency blankets
• safeguard a family from the elements by providing emergency shelter
• shield children from the cold by supplying winter clothes and blankets

And when you give today, a generous, anonymous donor will match your gift up to $100,000 to reach even more children like Ahmad!

At UNICEF, we believe these children shouldn’t be left out in the cold — and we know you do too. Your urgently needed gift at this critical time will help protect and save children.
