The Opportunity
The Director, Marketing Technology & Experience leads the strategy, development, and optimization of UNICEF Canada’s donor and marketing technology ecosystem. This includes advancing personalization, automation, and digital engagement capabilities to drive donor growth and fundraising performance.
Reporting to the Vice President, Digital Innovation & Technology, the Director oversees the platforms that power fundraising and supporter engagement—CRM systems, marketing automation, digital supporter journeys, and website infrastructure. This includes Raiser’s Edge NXT, Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and Engaging Networks.
The Director works closely with Fundraising, Data & Insights, and Operations teams to translate fundraising strategy into technology-enabled digital solutions and leads the team responsible for delivering high‑quality digital campaigns and experiences.
Key Accountabilities
CRM and Marketing Technology Strategy (30%)
- Own the end-to-end CRM ecosystem, including Raiser’s Edge NXT, Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and Engaging Networks.
- Define and lead a multi‑year transformation roadmap for marketing technology and personalization capabilities.
- Establish a target-state architecture and operating model across CRM and marketing platforms.
- Align CRM, automation, and digital platforms to support segmentation, personalization, and campaign execution.
- Provide strategic leadership on personalization, automation, and experimentation.
- Drive change management and adoption of marketing technologies across teams.
- Monitor emerging technologies and trends to enhance fundraising and supporter experience.
- Champion a culture of experimentation and optimization.
Donor Journey & Campaign Enablement (25%)
- Collaborate with Fundraising teams to design and launch digital campaigns and automated donor journeys.
- Ensure platforms enable end‑to‑end donor journeys through integrated data, segmentation, and automation.
- Establish performance measurement frameworks for campaign effectiveness.
- Support CRO initiatives through experimentation and UX improvements across donation pages and supporter journeys.
Fundraising Platform Operations & Governance (25%)
- Oversee operations, optimization, and governance of CRM, automation platforms, and website infrastructure.
- Ensure data flow and synchronization between platforms for accurate reporting and segmentation.
- Lead coexistence and transition strategies during tech transformation initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with AODA, PIPEDA, CASL, Quebec Law 25, and related regulations.
- Optimize UNICEF Canada’s website for SEO, performance, accessibility, and AI-enabled discovery.
- Establish platform service standards, SLAs, and QA frameworks.
- Manage relationships with external technology partners and vendors.
Cross-Team Partnership & Collaboration (10%)
- Partner with the Director, Data & Insights to ensure data integration and analytics alignment.
- Translate fundraising and marketing needs into scalable digital platform solutions.
- Coordinate with Donor Engagement & Administration teams to ensure donor data processes align with organizational priorities.
People Leadership (10%)
- Lead and develop the Marketing Technology team responsible for CRM transformation, digital campaigns, email programs, and platform configuration.
- Foster a collaborative culture focused on innovation and continuous improvement.
- Build capabilities to support evolving digital fundraising strategies and new technologies.
Qualifications
- University degree in IT, Marketing Technology, Digital Strategy, Business, or related fields.
- 8–10+ years of experience managing digital ecosystems and automation tools.
- Strong experience with Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud, Marketing Cloud, RE NXT, Engaging Networks, and similar systems.
- Experience in digital transformation, marketing technology implementation, or platform modernization.
- Experience with CMS (e.g., Drupal) and digital experience platforms (e.g., Optimizely).
- Experience leading website redesign initiatives with integrated CRM and marketing ecosystems.
- Proven ability to use technology to accelerate fundraising performance and supporter engagement.
- Knowledge of personalization, segmentation, and next‑best‑action strategies.
- Strong communication skills for translating technical needs into strategy.
