Eleven-year-old British Columbia girl wins annual Pier 1 Imports®/UNICEF/Owlkids Greeting Card Contest

Eleven-year-old Raavin from British Columbia, was named the grand prize winner of the annual Pier 1 Imports/UNICEF/Owlkids Greeting Card Contest. Raavin’s design will become an official UNICEF greeting card sold exclusively at Pier 1 Imports’ stores across Canada during the 2017 holiday season.

Number of unaccompanied or separated children arriving by sea to Italy doubles in 2016 – UNICEF

Some 25,800 unaccompanied or separated children arrived to Italy by sea in 2016 – that’s more than double the 12,360 who arrived during the previous year. These children account for a staggering 91 per cent of all the 28,200 children who reached Italy’s shores in 2016 as refugees or migrants.
