The 2025 edition brings forward youth perspectives on the systems and supports young people need to thrive, including stronger child rights mechanisms, equitable access to education and healthcare, inclusive governance and urgent climate action.
Young people’s vision for a better future in Canada
Each year, youth advocates from UNICEF Canada’s Youth Advocacy Program lead the development and writing of the Reimagine Playbook. They identify the issues that matter most to them and develop the Playbook’s ideas and recommendations, drawing on their lived experiences, research and knowledge of their communities. UNICEF Canada provides a platform, guidance and support as youth advocates learn about their rights, build advocacy skills and bring the Playbook together as an annual resource for decision-makers, adult allies, educators, community partners and young people.
Together, these annual editions show how young people are imagining and calling for a stronger Canada where every child and young person can realize their rights.
What is the Reimagine Playbook?
The Reimagine Playbook is a youth-led advocacy publication created by youth advocates from UNICEF Canada’s Youth Advocacy Program. It shares ideas from young people on how Canada can better uphold children’s rights and improve the lives of children and youth. Each edition is developed through a collaborative process where youth advocates identify priority issues, reflect on how those issues affect young people in Canada and around the world, and offer recommendations for action. The Playbook can be used by decision-makers, educators, community partners, adult allies and young people as a starting point for meaningful dialogue and change.
