Senior Co-Ordinator, Youth Participation 

(Permanent; Full-time; Based in Toronto) 

The Senior Co-Ordinator, Youth Participation will support the Manager, Youth Participation to administer youth participation activities, including U-Report Canada, and the Youth Advocacy Program. In your role, you will work closely with the Manager, Youth Participation, and domestic team to provide opportunities to meaningfully engage young people in policy advocacy.

The responsibilities of the position will include:

Administer U-Report (40%)  

  • Co-develop poll questions in youth-friendly language, ensuring ethical adherence. 
  • Work on the back end to schedule and test polls. 
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data. 
  • Prepare and disseminate poll results. 
  • Maintain online dashboard. 
  • Prepare and deliver presentations. 
  • Coordinate with the Steering Committee to successfully implement U-Report at a national scale. 

Youth Advocacy Program (35%) 

  • Support the Manager, Youth Participation to coordinate the Youth Advocacy Program
  • Conduct research and contribute to curriculum plan and resource/material development.
  • Prepare course materials.
  • Support youth participants to participate in the program and develop advocacy plans. 

Recruit U-Reporters (20%) 

  • Co-create and implement recruitment and promotion strategies and tactics for national scale. 
  • Work with youth and youth organizations in communities across Canada to recruit UReporters.
  • Research, plan for and attend events.  
  • Build relationships with youth organizations, attend youth gatherings, etc.  
  • Work with Marketing & Communications team to plan and implement digital recruitment campaigns. 

Support U-Report Ambassadors (5%) 

  • Recruit new U-Report Ambassadors annually and conduct onboarding and training. 
  • Track and support Ambassador recruitment activities and events. Identify and facilitate opportunities for Ambassador participation in advocacy and research activities, and partner organization initiatives. 

Qualifications, Competencies & Skills 

  • A post-secondary degree, diploma or equivalent work experience with a focus on research analysis, social policy, communications or related discipline. 
  • A minimum of 1-2 year’s relevant work experience in communications or youth engagement. 
  • Experience working with statistical data. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software. 
  • An advanced capacity to work with social media platforms. 
  • A demonstrated ability to participate in cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams to produce innovative strategies. 
  • Strong attention to detail.  
  • Ability to travel independently in Canada is required. 
  • Experience with chatbot technology and other innovative communication technologies (an asset). 
  • Bilingualism in English and French (an asset). 

Salary Range: $45,000 to $46,500 per year.
