Your summer impact report
Conflict. Disease. Climate shocks. The challenges facing children are growing, but so are the impacts of our collective action.
Thanks to you – our incredible monthly donors across Canada – UNICEF brings life-saving aid and critically needed services to children and families in more than 190 countries and territories. Together we help the world's children heal, grow, and unlock their full potential.
The stories below are the kind often unseen in today’s news feeds: uplifting stories of uniquely UNICEF results that you helped make possible by giving monthly.
How UNICEF brought
water back to an entire city
In Sloviansk, Ukraine, 13-year-old Bohdan spent the summer walking for over an hour to fetch water from a well in a neighbouring area. “We had no water for three and a half months because of the shelling,” says Bohdan. “I helped my mom, grandma and grandpa. We’d carry five containers at a time.”
Did You Know?
UNICEF is 100% donor funded. Your monthly donations ensure we can deliver for children wherever and whenever the need is greatest.
Stopping polio
in its tracks
For baby Alaa and her family, the conflict in Gaza had already taken so much. Then polio resurfaced in the summer of 2024 for the first time in 25 years. Despite the ongoing crisis, UNICEF and partners took immediate action to help stop the disease from spreading.
Thank You
Your monthly support helps UNICEF reach almost half of the world’s children with life-saving vaccines every year, even in conflict zones.
Climate-resilient
schools
Water scarcity has dramatically increased because of climate change, impacting millions of children. With your monthly support, UNICEF is working tirelessly to ensure water services in schools in Ecuador (and globally) are climate-resilient to protect children’s health and futures.
A greener future for every child
Your monthly generosity helps UNICEF create innovative and sustainable solutions to tackle the climate crisis.
A safe space for
Khadija
Nine-year-old Khadija was one of millions of children out of school in Afghanistan, putting her at a greater risk of child marriage, child labour and violence. Your generosity helped UNICEF establish a community-based classroom in her village, opening doors to a brighter future.
Education, for every child
In just the first half of 2024, UNICEF helped 9.7 million children in emergencies access education.
Youth and leaders unite in
Ottawa
We saw the power and the promise of youth leadership in action on November 20 at UNICEF Canada’s Youth Advocacy Summit in Ottawa. Over the course of the day, young advocates delivered bold, actionable visions for a more equitable Canada by engaging directly with influential leaders.
