HALIFAX, MARCH 7, 2022 – Nova Scotia’s top culinary talent are coming together for an evening of exceptional international cuisine. The 30th annual Chefs for UNICEF Water for Life Gala will happen on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at the Halifax Convention Centre. The Gala is in support of UNICEF’s work to provide access to safe water and sanitation systems for children in some of the hardest to reach places in the world.

With Halifax’s award-winning humorist, Bill Carr as Master of Ceremonies, the event aims to raise $315,000 as children continue to urgently need support. The pandemic has reversed years of progress on children’s rights and has intensified the need to continue UNICEF’s important work focused on safe water, sanitation, and hygiene, which also enables access to education.

“We are living through unprecedented times, and children need our help now more than ever,” said Jeannine Bakeeff, the Gala’s Chair. “Our community has the opportunity to help UNICEF in its life-saving work ensuring the right to water for every child.”

The generosity and support of the people of Halifax has made the UNICEF Water for Life Gala one of the charity’s most important fundraising events in North America. In addition to the award-winning chefs from across the province donating their time and talent, the event relies on a dedicated team of volunteers.

“The region’s most talented Chefs are working side by side to create tantalizing interpretations of international cuisines and cement the Chefs for UNICEF Water for Life Gala’s reputation as the food event of the season,” says Sean Doucet, Senior Director, Operations at SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts and Lead Chef for the Gala. “And it’s all to support an incredible cause -- helping vulnerable children reach their potential.”

Participating Chefs and their theme include:

  • Adam Bower, Grand Banker Bar & Grill and The Old Fish Factory Restaurant
