UNICEF Canada’s Executive Team

Originally from Vancouver, Bernadine currently lives in Toronto with her husband and daughter.  She is a former critical care nurse and a non-practising member of the College of Nurses of Ontario.  She has previously served as the Board Treasurer of Peel Senior Link and Board Member of WellFort Community Health Centre.

Most recently, Thierry led UNICEF’s communication, advocacy and community engagement in Indonesia, working with his team to drive social change, impact public policies, create opportunities for people to take action, and grow UNICEF’s corporate brand in support of fundraising and partnerships.

Previously, Thierry was responsible for UNICEF’s communication, advocacy and external relations portfolio in West and Central Africa, overseeing teams across 24 countries on issues ranging from crisis communication and media relations to strategy-making, branding, talent recruitment, and providing strategic advice on private sector partnerships.

A key driver of Thierry's work has been to create ways for communities to engage on critical social issues and advocate for their rights through initiatives that amplify their voices and ideas, and he is a strong proponent of placing young people at the centre of socio-economic progress.

Thierry has a proven track record of bringing diverse teams together toward shared objectives – to achieve systematic and sustainable impact. Before joining the United Nations, he worked in the private sector in the United States of America and Canada.

Born in Quebec, Canada, Thierry earned a Master of Information Studies from McGill University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) specialized in executive management and system thinking from the University of Cape Town and pursued undergraduate studies in Linguistics.
